Human trafficking booming in region

Human trafficking in the form of sex slaves and unpaid workers is now recognized as a booming crime element in the Washington area.

Just in the past few months:

» A D.C. pimp pleaded guilty to human trafficking charges after selling his 12-year-old foster daughter for sex.

» In Montgomery County, a half-dozen pimps were arrested under Maryland’s human trafficking statutes.

» Two men were arrested under the same law in Laurel after police determined they were prostituting a teenage girl and other women.

» A Maryland restaurant owner admitted to harboring and underpaying a dozen illegal immigrant workers.

PUBLIC SAFETY WARNING – Infant car seat by the road

This Public Safety Warning comes from a Homeland Security Report reader:

The reader was driving toward town when he saw an infant car seat on the side of the road with a blanket draped over it. The driver did not stop, even though as he said, “I had all kinds of thoughts running through my head.” When he arrived at his destination, he called the local police department. This is what he was told:

Several things to be aware of .. gangs and thieves, are now plotting different ways to get a person to stop their vehicle.

Apparently there is a gang initiation reported by the local police department that gangs are placing a car seat by the road…with a fake baby in it…waiting for a woman, of course, to stop and check on the baby.

The location of this car seat will usually be beside a wooded or grassy (field) area …and the person (a woman) will be dragged into the woods- beaten and raped- usually left for dead.

What should you do: DO NOT STOP. Call 911, report the location to the police immediately. The sooner you report it the better as it might prevent another unsuspecting person from becoming a victim.
